Chinese artwork on display in Paris

On March 5, an exhibition of traditional Chinese artwork titled “Cultural Patrimony of Our Times—Exhibition of Traditional Chinese Culture in Paris” opened in Paris. Hosted by XIHAN Action, a cultural organization devoted to traditional Chinese culture protection and the China Cultural Center in Paris, this is the first time that filigree inlay, a form of art that is on the verge of extinction has gone abroad. Filigree inlay, one of the eight traditional arts and crafts of Beijing, includes complex techniques. In 2008, the State Council officially designated filigree inlay art as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of China. Filigree inlay art originated in the Warring States Period (475-221BC). At the time, it was called “jinyincuo,” and it involved painting gold and silver on the surface of bronze artwork.
